Packaging Experience

Complete maintenance responsibility for 22 person maintenance department in an aseptic packaging facility for this Fortune 500 company. Financially responsible for nearly $2 million budget and $3/4 million inventory. Responsible for hiring, training, scheduling, preventive maintenance, work performance, capital projects, procedures and mechanical engineering. I took over this department shortly after construction of the plant and had to design and implement essentially all programs in the maintenance department.

ACHIEVEMENTS:

Designed and installed dozens of machinery modifications to improve reliability of this "serial number 1" processing and packaging system, including the first vision system in the division. Doubled, nearly tripled staff size to support expanding operations. Trimmed expenditures to within budget in first four months. Created complete preventive maintenance procedures and scheduling for all major equipment. In one specific case, this saved the company $45,000 in contract costs. Established training programs that provide each person over four hours of technical training every month. Designed the only employee orientation program at the entire facility. Improved machine efficiency over 10 percentage points.
